Tuesday:
Hello and welcome all. I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready to get to work. We have a lot to accomplish and a lot to prep for for next week. To get stared, please look at Engrade. Be sure I did not make any mistakes.
Now please convert your posters to PDF's and email them to me. I will be printing them out and hanging them up.
After your test, we will begin our next unit, Unit 4: Ecosystems. I hope you are excited about this unit, it is filled with lots of cute creatures!
Below is the PDF file of Unit 4. You may use it or go directly to the website. You will be using this information as you take notes and create your shared presentations. You need to start reading and taking notes on the unit. Your notes will be due on Thursday, yes Thursday, so get busy and get them knocked out.
The shared presentation link is below for you to edit.
To get started, I would like you to group up. Get in groups of 2-4 and skim the resource chapter. As a group discuss your finding and help each other answer the questions that follow. With your group, answer all the questions without reading the chapter. Do this on a blank sheet. Then, as a group divide and conquer, skimming the chapter and correctly answering the questions. Compare how you did. Please write out the question and correct answer to each. Every student needs to turn this assignment in, even though you are working in groups.
Thursday:
Good day to all. I hope you are doing well. We have lots to do today so lets get started.
First off, please take out your questions from the Barron's review so we can go over the answers.
Next, take out your noted you did on the reading, I will be coming around and checking those.
As we begin this chapter there are a few things we will need to understand to move forward. So let's take a couple of minutes to review some basic elements and concepts associated with ecosystems.
Today I want to focus on biomes, and since we just got done with oceans, lets take a look at some underwater biomes. I am going to share a few videos and you will need to take notes on each. After which you will complete a couple of online activities to highlight the information. After that, we will be working on a poster in class.
For your posters you will choose a biome to research and present. Everyone will do a different one. Don't worry, there are plenty to choose form. On your poster you are to highlight that biome, discuss animal and plant life that exits there, include a food web, talk about location and weather or temperature, and any other critical information you feel is necessary. I want these posters to resemble the National Parks guides as best as possible; so be sure to look at the examples in class. I have high hopes for these posters and will be excited to see them. They will be due Next Wednesday, so you have plenty of time, but don't delay!
Please use this website and others for your posters. Biomes of the World
Homework over the weekend, you will need to select and complete a presentation on one section for this unit. The link is below. We will be presenting next week. Be sure to have your presentations done come Monday. Unit 4: Ecosystems Shared Preso
